Need everyone's Opinion

Greetings all,

I need to get some opinions from everyone here on the board. I have been approached by a couple medical groups here in Southern California asking if I would be interested in becoming a Certified Wellness Coach specializing in the field of Bariatric Surgical Post Op patients.

I for one have had several times that it would have been nice to be able to contact someone with questions and some food issues along with excercise questions that I need help with. My regular PCP really has no expertise in the Gastric Surgeries and has done his best to try and get me back to my homeostasis. But he has sent me to a nutritionist that wants me to eat 1800 calories per day (yeah right).

I have never even thought about this concept and want opinions if this would be a worth wild certification to pursue. It will be a long certification process and would just like to get your thoughts and opinions on it. I want it to come from people that have gone through the different surgeries and have experience first hand not from books and people they have talked to.

Well I know for a fact that there is not really anyone in the Inland Empire that does anything close to that. I don't see my WL doctor, he is too far and I never did like his car. When I went to my doctor in Loma Linda, he said that here was a nurse that did some post op work, but wasn't sure she was doing it any longer. It sure would be great to have somewhere to go, someone to talk to that can help out with questions. I would think that it is a good opportunity.

Answer the door , opportunity is knocking and if ya wait too long they may think no one is home. If you have had wls, and have found that you are being offered the opportunity to give something to others that you didnn't have or would have found useful then I say go for it. Someone must think you have what it takes to do this and there must be a market for it. I say check it out, if it is all it appears to be and you truley desire to do it then by all means.

Greetings,

Just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone that responded to this post. I also believe there is a great need in the Inland Empire along with the surronding areas for people that can help others with their journies with the WLS. I am going to pursue the certification and hopefully be able help others with some of the issues they may experience. I wont know it all but every little bit helps.

If you have any specific areas that you had an issue with or have heard of others having, send me a PM and I will take note of it.
